This season of my music journey has been about celebrating my musical origins.

The 80’s.
A time when funk & pop combined in ways previously unheard. The sound of synths and drum machines expanded and dominated the airwaves. My life as a musician began in the midst of this flurry of new sounds and styles.

I am a child of the 80’s.
I began writing & recording my own music in the summer of 1983 just as I was finishing the 9th grade. There was a ton of great music that year, but Prince’s “1999” album absolutely dominated my personal playlist. I was absolutely captivated and inspired by the sound and style of that project. As I celebrate the music of that time, I wanted to create something that sounded like it might have come from that Minneapolis hotbed of creativity.

I received a RANSOM NOTE. Feeling a new INVIGORATION, I walked THE FAMILIAR PATH. As a member of the CLASS OF 1986, I took a MIDNIGHT STROLL which led to my joining the DESCENDANTS OF THE VIOLET ARMY in a celebration of this great era of music.

Long live the spirit of the 80’s!
